Summer is here, and IAStuCo is celebrating an incredible season of leadership training and national networking! Here are the key updates from the July newsletter:
- Summer Successes:
- ILTC: 45 students attended camp at Grand View University!
- VISION Conference: Iowa brought the largest delegation with 55 strong in Oklahoma City! Next year’s VISION Conference will take place at Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire (June 22–24).
- Farewell & Retirements: Wishing a happy retirement to Camp Director Bruce Maffit (25 years of service) and Assistant Executive Director Janet Young! Thank you both for your dedicated service.
- Honor Council: Congratulations to the 32 schools that submitted portfolios showcasing their outstanding work!
- Upcoming Fall Events & Deadlines:
- Administrator of the Year: Nominations for middle and high school administrators are due July 30.
- Free New Advisor Workshop: August 11 from 10 AM–2 PM at the SAI Office in Clive (for advisors in years 0–3).
- District Officer Bootcamps: One-day trainings running September 3–24 across all 5 districts ($15/person, max $100/school). (Note: SW District date updated to Sept 24 in Harlan!)
- State Leadership Conference: October 26–27 at Iowa State University, featuring keynote speaker Heather Schultz.
- State Project: Look out for upcoming details on “Click Carefully, Connect Confidently.”
